MediaCityUK production companies partner for Radio 2 Country programme
Two MediaCityUK audio production companies have teamed up for a programme commission on Radio 2 Country, the BBC’s pop up digital station which launches on Thursday 9th March.
Salford Red Devils has tackled sustainability head-on with a special donation to Charity Super.mkt in Quayside MediaCity, hand delivered by Sam Stone and Shane Wright.
The Super League rugby club has been collecting items from its players throughout the off season, resulting in a large amount of exclusive sports gear, all in superb condition being donated to Charity Super.Mkt.
Sports fans and shoppers can expect to find playing shirts from previous seasons, training gear and other branded Salford Red Devils merchandise, some items still with tags on and prices starting from just £5 per item. Hidden gems include signed-match worn player shirts of former Red, Danny Addy and England Knights International, Deon Cross , as well as two squad signed shirts – including the first squad signed 2024 shirt!
And that’s not all; as a special surprise, selected Salford Red Devils items have been labelled with a rare golden ticket, offering five lucky shoppers the chance to win two tickets to the first home game of the season at The Salford Stadium against Castleford Tigers on 25th February 2024. Shoppers are encouraged to be quick to snap these golden pairs! Paul King, Managing Director of Salford Red Devils said; “We are thrilled to collaborate with Charity Super.Mkt and donate some special items and player-worn gear to aid their efforts. As a club, we believe in making a positive impact beyond the field, and by supporting Charity Super.Mkt we’re able to ensure a sustainable route for these pieces, offer an affordable option for our community, and support some fantastic charities.”
Proceeds from the special donation will go towards all participating charities: Age UK, All Aboard, Emmaus, Havens Hospices, Together Trust, and St Vincent de Paul.
Charity Super.Mkt co-founder Wayne Hemingway MBE, said: “MediaCity in Salford has been such a great location for us and we certainly hope to be back, as it’s been such a success. People, including sports fans, are becoming more conscious of their choices and the effect they have on the world. We’re happy to help give them new sports gear without hurting the planet or breaking the bank.”
Having made a successful first appearance in the North of England, Charity Super.Mkt will stay open in Quayside MediaCity until 28th January 2024.
Charity Super.Mkt is co-founded by Marie Chenoweth, CEO of sustainable clothing charity TRAID and Wayne Hemingway MBE, of HemingwayDesign and co-founder of British fashion brand Red or Dead. It aims to create a destination that allows people to shop sustainably and with purpose.
