The summer holidays are just two weeks away and MediaCity has today announced a packed programme of events throughout July and August with something for all ages.
MediaCity’s new Waterside Steps with day beds, comfy seating and pretty planters has created a new chilled area to sit and watch the world go by. With a brand-new bar and waterside big screen showing family movie classics and summer sporting favourites, visitors can relax and enjoy Wimbledon with a glass of Pimms or take in the Summer Olympics with epic waterside views. Here the vibe is more Sorrento than Salford where visitors can enjoy fish and chips from Super Fry Guys and cocktail infused ice creams from A Few Scoops, perfect for sunny date night.

Also new for the summer, MediaCity has relaunched its popular outdoor dining scene as Kargo On the Docks in the MediaCity Gardens, bringing in a fresh wave of local food traders, bespoke artwork by Salford-based creatives and an exciting series of craft and wellness activities. Families can enjoy a range of themed Sunday Socials with Our Kids Social throughout the summer holidays, as well as a Kung Fu class, Wimbledon themed arts and crafts and a Dog-friendly Afternoon Tea Party.

Over at Quayside, families can take in all that Central Bay has to offer including its waterside terrace and 20 international kitchens at Kargo.MKT, plus candle painting, Kintsugi and Chinese painting workshops throughout the summer as well as a Tangled themed mini disco.

Shoppers can pick up some vintage gems at the North’s first Classic Car Boot Sale and discover the best of Salford’s independent traders and artisans at the Quayside Makers Market, plus, the first ever Flower Market comes to Central Bay offering the best of all things botanical.

For young people looking to get creative, a new art project at the INNIT Creative Hub, run by Salford-based charity I4YPC is hosting free workshops every Wednesday, offering young people between 11-18yrs a chance to create pieces of art and sell their creations in the Galleriffica Gallery at Quayside.

And that’s not all – visitors can take in the most famous working TV set in the world at the Coronation Street Experience or enjoy one of the shows on offer at The Lowry Theatre, including Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book, A Chorus Line and Bluey’s Big Play.
