Experience the English premiere of “Songs of the Bulbul,” a transcendent solo performance by virtuoso Kathak dancer Aakash Odedra. Created in collaboration with Delhi-based choreographer Rani Khanam, this production tells an ancient Sufi myth about the Persian nightingale through exquisite storytelling, expressive hand gestures and flowing movements.

For this special Lowry 25th Anniversary event, Odedra will be accompanied by Manchester Camerata’s 40-piece orchestra performing an original score by composer Rushil Ranjan, who masterfully blends Indian and Western classical traditions. The performance features breathtaking live vocals from musical greats Abi Sampa and Sarthak Kalyani.

Following its critically acclaimed world premiere at the Edinburgh International Festival where it received numerous 4 and 5-star reviews, “Songs of the Bulbul” comes to The Lowry on Tuesday, May 6 as part of its UK tour.
