MediaCityUK has announced they are to join forces with property consultants JLL to launch the first MediaCityUK Urban Challenge obstacle course which will bring the region’s property and corporate sectors together in a competitive and unique team building event, spanning land and water on Friday, 13 July.
More than 1000 participants from the property and corporate community are being invited to take part in MediaCityUK’s Urban Challenge 2018 which will see dock 9 and its surrounding quayside transformed into an exciting adventure obstacle course.
There will be more than 25 fun and exhilarating challenges including monkey bars, a ninja wall, a tarzan swing into water, cargo net climbs as well as a giant water slide which will catapult participants into the clean waters of dock 9. There will be a 3k and 6k version of the course which can be tackled either individually or as part of a relay team of three.
The course has been masterminded by ex-SAS celebrity TV trainer Rob Edmond who has many years’ experience in leading unique urban adventure experiences across the world. Stephen Wild, Managing Director of MediaCityUK said: “We know the property and wider business community are always up for a challenge and fun in equal measure and we’re really excited to bring this unique event to MediaCityUK. Whether you’re a first timer or more competitive athlete, there’s something for all.”
Steve Hogg from JLL added: “After three successful years hosting the JLL Property Triathlon North at MediaCityUK, we have taken the decision to postpone the event this year. Unfortunately, construction work currently underway at The Lightbox has severely impacted part of the course and whilst we attempted to find a way a workable solution, the urban nature of the event meant we ultimately didn’t have a course suitable for either a full sprint triathlon or a duathlon.
“Naturally, we are delighted to be able to partner MediaCityUK in its first obstacle course event – ‘MediaCityUK’s Urban Challenge 2018’ which promises to be a fantastic opportunity to bring the North West business community together this summer. We are looking forward to being part of it!”
The Urban Challenge event will seek to raise funds for charitable causes including the Tim Bacon Foundation and Crisis, JLL’s nominated charity. Click here to see a similar event in action.
