Barclays is bringing a new and flexible way to bank in MediaCityUK
Barclays is piloting a brand new physical way to bank, at a time and place that’s convenient for its customers and clients on the move. Barclays first ‘flexible pod’ is based at MediaCityUK, Salford, providing access to everyday banking services to the local community as well as specialist support for customers and clients who may be ready to discuss buying a home, or starting a small business. The first of its kind, Barclays new micro-branch is a modular structure complete with comfortable seating and all of the kit needed to support conversations.
Open from 09:30-16:30 Monday to Friday*, the micro-branch is equipped with mobile WiFi for staff to connect to bank systems and is situated next to an existing Barclays cash machine (ATM) for withdrawals and other services. Appointments can also be booked with branch staff supporting specialist needs such as business banking and mortgages. Staff are equipped with laptop computers featuring the customer servicing software Barclays uses at permanent locations, enabling the same level of support to help customers to manage their money and plan for their future.
The pod’s design means that it can be picked up and moved to a new location, enabling Barclays to be even more flexible and mobile in support of its customers.
Steve Mitchell, Barclays Market Director for Manchester said;
“We’re thrilled to bring our flexible branch to customers and clients based in and around Media City UK, Salford. The area is home to the media and broadcast industry and has a thriving residential population. Modern technology brings a speed and convenience, which the majority of our customers choose as a complement to their busy lives, but there’ll always be moments where they’d like to sit down and have a conversation with a member of the banking team. Our physical presence is evolving to meet those customer needs, both through investment in our permanent branches and in new physical solutions, such as the new micro-branch pod design.”
Steve continued;
“We’ll establish a permanent presence through our upcoming Media City branch in a brand new building by the end of this year, which provides the perfect opportunity to trial our new micro-branch design to provide services in the interim. We’re excited to welcome customers and members of the local community to our pod.”
