ASTERMURO, assisted by students from Manchester School of Art (MSA), install UK’s largest contemporary fresco at IP Investment Management’s luxury new build to rent development operated by Amro Living.
The Green Rooms@MediaCityUK: IP Investment Management unveiled a monumental contemporary abstract fresco (16x5m) within the lobby of new build to rent property in the progressive MediaCityUK waterfront development. This is a significant milestone for the property which is operated by Amro Living and supports the objective of creating a unique and design rich environment for the building’s community while also promoting positive community engagement within the local MediaCityUK neighbourhood.
AsterMuro is an innovative UK studio creating awe inspiring abstract frescoes for interior architecture. Months of planning and conceptualization took place before installation started in June 2020 while ensuring that proper social distancing measures were practiced. The MSA students completed a training placement at the Aster Muro studio in January this year.
“We are delighted with the stunning fresco created by AsterMuro with help from the student sof MSA,” says Selina Williams, Executive Director at IP Investment Management. “It is already loved by the Green Rooms’ residents and is proving to be a talking point within MediaCityUK, catching the eye of many passers-by.”
In addition to this mural, The Green Rooms @ MediaCityUK features the following:
– 238 apartment units in spacious 1, 2, and 3-bedroom layouts
– Large balconies to all apartments
– Incomparable views of the waterfront & greater MediaCityUK
– High-speed Wi-Fi & flexible lease terms
– On-site leasing office & management with 24-hour maintenance
– Residents-only fitness centre
– A pet-friendly community
– Internal bike & package storage
“It was a privilege creating the frescoes for the exciting Green Rooms development in MediaCityUK and a joy teaching and being assisted by the MSA foundation students. The frescoes provide an emotive point of connection and serve a s a ‘welcome home’ for the Green Rooms residents, bringing up lifting qualities of light, colour and energy to the communal spaces. The highly visible lobby fresco is a bold addition to the streets of MediaCityUK and the installation, with MSA’s involvement, has facilitated IP Investment Management and Amro Living’s desire to engage with the local community.” Says artist Charles Snell, AsterMuro.
The project has also been a very positive association in the community for MSA:
“Our foundation students were provided with a fabulous opportunity to work on an industry-based brief alongside AsterMuro, as they completed their biggest commission to date. Throughout the project, the students were presented with an invaluable experience and were able to observe the technical, complex processes of a highly skilled professional artist at work. The partnership has been a real success.” Says Ben Greenhalgh, Lecturer Foundation Art and Design at MSA.
