Children’s cancer research charity, Kidscan, is calling all thrill-seeking fundraisers to get fired up and take on the ultimate challenge, walking across hot coals on the MediaCityUK piazza.
Kidscan’s Fire Walk Fundraiser will take place on Thursday 9th March from 5pm, and the charity is daring like-minded thrill-seeking fundraisers to join the fight against childhood cancer and take part in the challenge.
Fire Walks are designed to challenge people to overcome their fears, inspiring them to do things they didn’t think were possible. This unique, fundraising initiative is the perfect challenge for team building and individual development alike.
Vicky Profit, Event Manager at Kidscan said: “Just imagine stepping out of your comfort zone and walking across hot coals, what a buzz that would be! I’d urge everyone to pluck up the courage to overcome their fears and join me – it will be an unforgettable experience. Plus it’s all for such a good cause – we want every child with cancer to survive and thrive.”
Money raised from the event will go towards Kidscan’s pioneering research into discovering new, targeted treatments for childhood cancers – treatments that are gentler for children’s bodies, reducing short and long term side effects. Kidscan does not receive any statutory funding, so relies on the generosity of businesses and the general public.
Cancer is the leading cause of death in children in the UK with around 1,600 children being diagnosed each year. Unfortunately 1 in 5 of these will not survive. Through ground breaking research, Kidscan is striving to change that, giving every child with cancer the treatment they need to survive and thrive.
