About us
Camera placement is crucial in visual media and at BBC R&D, we’re exploring Novel View
Synthesis to move cameras after filming. This enables affordable virtual production sets and
filming multi-camera shows in small spaces like radio studios.
BBC R&D’s Rob Scott will conduct a live, crowd participation, interactive demo of Orbit, BBC
R&D’s music discovery app that helps people find new music vibes. Based on a series of
randomly generated challenges, audiences will explore a starfield of music samples and
vote as a group which track best fits the brief.
Following this, Rob Scott will take visitors ‘behind the starfield’ and talk about how BBC
R&D deconstructed music genres to build a uniquely engaging experience that helps
people break out of their algorithmic boxes, whilst respecting their time
