UK Chinese Dragon Boat Festival (CDBF) is one of the most high profile events organised by the Xinhua Chinese Association (XCA). With supports from local councils, communities and organisations, and Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Manchester, the Festival has been a fast growing event including amateur team dragon boat racing, diversity of culture show and presentations, and taste of authentic food since it was first held in June 2012 at MediaCityUK, Salford, Great Manchester.
This two-day festival is not to be missed.
Saturday 8th June: amateur racers, including the renowned Manchester football derby teams of Manchester City and Manchester United, as well as the Salford Rugby Red Devils, will take to the water.
Sunday 9th June: will see the more experienced BDA club teams compete.
CULTURAL PERFORMANCES
Along with dragon boat race competitions, a variety of cultural activities will be held, including:
- Lion and dragon dances
- Kung fu demonstrations
- Folk songs, dances, and music
- Chinese painting and calligraphy
- Enjoy bracelet braiding
- Plus, traditional Dragon Boat Festival foods, such as zongzi and other delectable treats, will be available for tasting.

Introduce Chinese food culture and provide typical Dragon Boat Festival foods such as zongzi and other foods.
Fundraising for Charity
10% of the team entry fee will be donated to the charity of Action for Children / Children in Need.
