North West Net Zero Youth Conference 2023 – 25th November 2023
University of Salford are hosting a FREE event for like-minded young people to debate how we can help push the North West to achieve net zero by 2030. Youth-led discussions and interactive workshops will share ideas on:

Saving Energy in the Workplace and Home
In response to the current energy crisis, as well as the climate emergency we’re facing, we are offering a one-hour session for those who wish to learn how to save energy in the workplace and at home. ENERGY LINGO
Carbon Footprint
A carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere as a result of an activity by an individual, product or business. Why not try and work out your personal carbon emissions by using the WWF Carbon Footprint calculator.
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
An EPC is a legally valid document that tells you how energy efficient a building is and gives it a rating from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient). EPCs are valid for 10 years from the date of issue. Want to know more about EPC ratings? Check out the link below.
ISO 50001 Energy Management System
ISO 50001 is the international standard for managing energy and helps businesses to actively improve their energy efficiency through identifying and implementing energy saving ideas.
LED Lighting
Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are one of the most efficient sources of lighting; using up to 60% less energy and lasting 2 or even 3 times longer than fluorescent lighting.
Net Zero
Net Zero is a target where all emissions are reduced to zero, or as close to zero as possible, with any remaining carbon removed from the atmosphere through nature-based solutions.
