A self-confessed latte-lover, she joined the Worker Bee team at the recently opened Social 7 at MediaCityUK to taste the exciting new range of teas and coffees that are giving back to the people of Manchester with every cup.
Developed by Roger McBride, the founder and managing director of Didsbury-based RCoffee, Worker Bee MCR is a fantastic new concept that combines great coffee and tea with giving back to good local causes across Greater Manchester.
For every tea or coffee sold (it will only be served in good independent coffee shops across the city centre), 10 per cent of wholesale sales and 2.5 per cent of retail sales will be given back to two local charities, Forever Manchester and We Love MCR, to help tackle issues including homelessness, food shortages and community projects in the city.
The company is hoping to bring the products to life by raising £23,000 on crowd funding site Indiegogo – and every bit of support will help.
Managing director at RCoffee, Roger McBride, commented: “We’re really grateful to Jade for showing her support to this campaign and for taking time out to come and taste the new products here at Social 7. We’re hoping that everyone across Manchester joins the Worker Bee MCR campaign and we can start giving back to the very worthy causes supported by We Love Manchester and Forever Manchester.”
Jade English commented: “As a Manchester girl, it’s great to see local businesses doing their bit to help address some of the issues that we face in our community, and the Worker Bee vision for an everyday product that gives back to charity is a fantastic concept. The teas and coffees also smell and taste amazing so there’s hopefully no reason for local coffee shops and restaurants not to get on board.”
Within the Worker Bee MCR portfolio are two teas (one traditional black tea and the other an infusion) and three types of coffee (a Columbian single origin, a pure Arabican coffee and a Swiss water decaffeinated). Worker Bee MCR will also be swapping sugar sticks for honey sticks.
The vision behind the Worker Bee MCR brand is clear; to raise the standards in tea and coffee both in terms of quality and experience, to give something back to the city of Manchester, and to encourage customers to buy locally produced products, plus get retailers to stock and use more local goods and services.
For every pledge made to the crowdfunding campaign, Worker Bee MCR is offering a range of incentives, from branded merchandise to tea and coffee supplies.
