Picture Book Luna Loves Art takes over MediaCityUK

As the UK continues to come out of lockdown, Andersen Press and MediaCityUK in Salford are unveiling a brand-new, free family trail based on best-selling picture book Luna Loves Art, written by Joseph Coelho, with illustrations by Fiona Lumbers.

In the book Luna and her class go on a school trip to the art gallery and through the amazing art on show new friends Luna and Finn discover that there are so many ways that a family can look like… from the team that created the best-selling World Book Day £1 book Luna Loves World Book Day.

Designed for families to enjoy outside, whilst exploring shops and restaurants as they re-open the Luna Loves Art Family Trail sees 6 artworks created by Fiona Lumbers for families to find whilst enjoying the public spaces around MediaCityUK. Each piece of art is inspired by pieces from the original book and can be found The Open Centre, through the Gardens and into Quayside MediaCityUK. More information, and trail maps are available online:

With waterfront views and award-winning gardens MediaCityUK is a popular visitor destination, and the trail will not only take over buildings, but advertising boards and poster sites around MediaCityUK. There will be no escaping Luna and the bright, colourful art by Fiona Lumbers!

As part of the trail Andersen Press will offer 5 prize packs of signed Luna Loves books for those who share images on social media tagging @AndersenPress with the hashtag #LunaLovesArt.

Discounted copies of Luna Loves Art by Joseph Coelho and Fiona Lumbers will be available at Quayside MediaCityUK Customer Services point as part of the trail.

Illustrator Fiona Lumbers has said of the trail, “Luna Loves Art shows young readers that families come in all shapes and sizes, and by bringing the art from the book to life in installations around MediaCityUK I really hope those families can get outside and enjoy themselves finding the art as much as I have creating it.”

Josie Cahill, Place Director for MediaCityUK said:

“We are very excited to see ‘Luna Loves Art’ come to life in MediaCityUK. We are a place which inspires creativity in all ages, and we hope these giant illustrations taken from the book will spark the imagination of those taking part in the immersive art trail and that the memories these children will make will inspire a next generation of storytellers and future creatives.”

Paul Black, Andersen Press’ PR and Brand Director said:

“This year has been a big one for Luna, with the release of Luna Loves World Book Day topping the charts already, but to see Fiona Lumbers’ incredible art blown up to these huge, bright pieces is a real highlight – here’s hoping that as families come out of lockdown they can pick up a copy of the book, and enjoy themselves on the trail whilst enjoying a bit of art too.”
