Kate Doyle – Festival Director, We Invented the Weekend
” If there’s anywhere we can do this and do it well it’s MediaCity because of the amazing, creative people who work within it, making wonderful things happen every day.”
Lucie Grech, from Salford is the owner of The Laser Lounge, an award-winning laser and skin clinic based in MediaCity. Since launching her business in one small room in The Greenhouse in October 2019, Lucie hasn’t looked back, gradually expanding from The Greenhouse to Blue and in Summer 2022 launching the clinic in her own building in The Nest.
Here, Lucie shares her MediaCity journey and tells us why she’s so passionate about this unique destination: “Prior to setting up the Laser Lounge I worked as a practice manager in a Dentist but was desperate to leave the corporate world and so started providing laser treatments as a hobby in my spare time.
Lucie, who is a proud born and bred Salfordian loves the fact that MediaCity has helped put her hometown on the national map and was her first choice location to launch The Laser Lounge: “I wanted the business to be close to home but in a beautiful area that is easily accessible for clients and MediaCity was the perfect location. I also knew that I would benefit from having thousands of residents and workers right on my doorstep. As an avid content creator, I love marketing via social media platforms so I have also attracted customers from further afield.”
Aside from its stunning location and community vibe one of Lucie’s favourite things about MediaCity is going to The Botanist. “I love the fact that there’s a great variety of food and drink options just a minute’s walk away.”
Today, Lucie is on the cusp of a really exciting phase in The Laser Lounge’s evolution and has been shortlisted for the StartUp Awards North West as a 2022 finalist. The clinic was selected from 2500 applications in the B2C services start up category and the winner will be announced in July 2022. Good luck Lucie!

Britain’s Pets have got talent too
And Davinia Hamilton Maddox of Animal Direction knows how to cast them.
“For us, it was a no brainer to commit to MediaCity. Its high-profile occupiers such as the BBC and ITV combined with its friendly vibe and sense of community as well as its restaurant and bar scene means our clients and colleagues from the South love to convene here.”
“My advice to anyone sitting on the fence about joining a HOST programme is to just go for it!”
